We use East Cape manuka oil that is oil from Leptospermum scoparium, harvested and distilled on the East Cape of New Zealand.
In the one of the most remote rural communities of New Zealand, with our local partners we extract manuka essential oil from the leaf and twig of the manuka plant using a steam distillation process which leaves rich golden oil strong with strong gram positive antibacterial properties that correlated to the levels of ß-triketone compounds that can be found in the oil.
We use this oil because it has been tested by the Cawthron Institute who concluded that oil from the region contained a higher level of ß-triketone compounds than oil from all other regions of New Zealand other than a small area on the top of the South Island.
We use the raw oil and we extract those ß-triketones which we formulate with other scientifically proven compounds and natural ingredients which we rigorously trial before releasing them on to the market.
We are creating value for our shareholders by exploiting the changes in the pharmaceutical industry which continues to occur with the convergence of nutraceuticals, cosmeceuticals and pharmaceuticals driven by data and consumer information. We manufacture and sell our products in local and overseas markets as cosmetics and cosmeceuticals and invest a large percentage of our profits back into further research for the development of natural skin care products.
What really excites us are the possibilities for manuka and its potential as a topical antibacterial.
Antimicrobial resistance dramatically disrupts global healthcare where in the US alone there are an average of 1.7million HIA’s reported annually at a cost of US$45 billion.
We are developing IP and proof of uptake, proof of scalability, and a natural product story for our brands as we focus on select investment, branding, and partnership opportunities in the health, wellness cosmeceutical, pharmaceutical and cosmetic industries.
